Hello:

We discovered this new feature in the z/OS 1.7 migration. Searching
information about it, we found following info:

Large Systems Update 2005 DFSMS 1.7 Highlights

Catalog Autotuning Support
Catalog performance is dependent on three parameters when
defined
o Number of strings
o Number of data buffers
o Number of index buffers
Possible performance problems may exist when a catalog has
heavy
concurrent activity, have a high number of large (spanned records), or
significant index size
Autotuning support will adjust the data and index buffer
numbers upward as
demand for a catalog increases
As activity increases for a catalog CAS will detect the
activity and the
number of strings will be increased
If the values are increased they will be remembered if the
catalog is
closed and then referenced again
o The actual catalog entry will not reflect the new values
Message IEC391I will identify the new values
Catalogs will be scanned every 10 minutes

It will be possible to deactivate it? How to do?
