Are you sure it wasn't 1995 - the shop I worked at back then was "one of 
the first" (but not necessarily the 1st) parallel sysplexes in production 
and we did that in November of 1995.  We had DB2 data sharing in production 
the week after it went GA - was very bleeding edge but we did have a lot of 
help from IBM.  

But if you were with one of the ESP sites, I guess it could have been 
1994.  We were an ESP site for DB2 data sharing but not for parallel 
sysplex. We implemented both at the same time and learned a lot real fast :D

Sad thing is that after years of being active in the Parallel Sysplex 
Leadership Council, that shop doesn't even have a mainframe anymore.
