still doing assembler development in LA: ASI and PSI.

You missed a few.  Back in '77 every big bank in L.A. was using
assembler (Bank of America, Security Pacific, etc., etc.), as well as
lots of others.  And even today there are other assembler shops in
L.A. and O.C.  Vanguard, and the Tivoli people in Costa Mesa, just to
pick a couple examples out of the air.  But those are quibbles; no
one would dispute that the field has shrunken to a fraction of what
it once was.  Also, although I am still using assembler, I, like you,
am no longer in L.A.!  :)
