<sheesh, go to 2-hour meeting and return to find a thread about my reading skills, reading habits, my age, and my credibility!> <VBG>
Steve: Yes, I remained conscious Daniel: No, I said "many, many years". Head not sore Rob: None were read in bed. Either slept or.... Binyamin: 55, MVS/SP&XA Init and Tuning manuals - no idea on # of pages In actuality, I took a few weeks to read it, making sure I understood each PARMLIB member and all its options before I moved on to the next one. I compared the defaults in the manual to what was specified in *my* PARMLIB and made sure I understood *why* each of those options were coded differently than the published defaults. I inadvertently put that learned I&T knowledge to the test when I stupidly stepped away from sysprogging for a bunch of years. I managed to con my way back into a Sr. MVS Sysprog position, picked up the latest I&T manual, read the summary of changes, read about the new (to me) members, options and parameters, and did the same with the SMP/E manuals. Within two months, I was back up to speed, totally productive. And to reiterate: Yes, Steve, I actually did read it and numerous other manuals cover to cover (the entire SMS library at one point). I have friends that can still tell me what certain wait state codes are...sick puppies to be sure...LOL Steve Samson, you are one to talk! At one point, YOU were a walking Init and Tuning manual, especially with all the nuances of IPS, ICS and OPT members. Alan Levy was another. (fun string of posts to reply to. And I *still* recommend reading "some" manuals cover to cover. So there!) <g,d&r> Bob Richards -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Daniel A.
