Thank you Russell for responding. Unfortunately, we do not have any more scratch physical stacking carts around. If you can recall, recently I posted a question regarding tape that was reject as read-only by the VTS. None of us are storage skilled, thus learning to fill this position as no one knows better. As all those tapes that were ejected from the VTS, no one has add a new one to replace the reject tape. Thus, we are not in this situation. Could we reduct this virtual-volumes that were in scratch status to perhaps really free some physical stacking tapes back to the scratch pool? I believe what that are still good are in the robot, those that were eject (as I was told last) are bad, and they should be bin.

Susan, I believe you are confusing virtual-volumes in scratch status (which I believe is the 8,226 volumes) and the physical stacking scratch volumes (which I believe you only have 1 left). However, the 141 empty slots indicates that you can insert 141 physical cartridges that do not have active data on them. These could be inserted as scratch physical stacking volumes and give you some relief. Sorry, we don't have a 3494 to play with; so I just read the manual as well. How long have you had this configuration? How many active (non-scratch) virtual-volumes do you currently have? Are they all inside the robot, or do you use the EXPORT function to put the older ones on a shelf outside the robot? Hi Listers, We have an urgent problem with our VTS. We have run out of Stacked tape for the VTS. We were told that we have to reduce the scratch volumes so reclaim scratch stacked volumes. Below is our library detail. What I want to find our urgently is to how to reclaim all some of the 8226 scratch volumes back into the scratch stacked volume count? I am trying to read the manual, but with your help, we need to resolve this problem urgently. Thanks.
