Ours is slightly more than 2G (2112M & 2048M) on a z9. This is with
DASD UCBs: 41648 (defined) 9271 (on-line).
I would bite the bullet and fence off at least 2G in your memory budget
for HSA. Allow yourself plenty of room for dynamic I/O changes and you
won't need an outage for that anytime soon. Consider to buy more it's
the cheapest thing you can add to improveme performance. $10K/G is the
list price since the MF charter or $8K/G for z9. You may do better than
list.

We have a z/890 2086-0A4 with 5,018 devices. We tried a dynamic IODF and
failed because we exceeded the 5128 device maximum set at last POR.
We have an IOCDS staged with 6144 devices. There is a question why not
just set the max to 16k.
HSA is currently at 128mb. All main is allocated, no slop anywhere. If
HSA grows, then I'll lose an LPAR.
What size should I expect at 6144? What size would I expect at 16K?
