Rogers I assume Mark has used the nature of the question in order to assume that
1. your current VTAM implementation was traditional subarea, that is, it uses CDRM/SSCP in order to communicate between domains rather than Control Points, CPs 2. you needed to be told that Enterprise Extender requires that a supporting VTAM needs to be enabled for APPN as well as or in place of traditional subarea He's also quite right to warn you that this "enabling" is not a trivial exercise and should be performed by someone with an appropriate understanding of both subarea and APPN architectures - and - a deep understanding of the way the current SNA applications use VTAM. I sense the possibility that, if this "enabling" is indeed needed, the person who could have tackled this work has been "let go". To answer your original post: 1. Enterprise Extender requires only a suitable level of Communications Server and has no hardware requirement other than implied by the implementation of the IP part of Communications Server 2. Almost certainly you are running a level of Communications Server which supports Enterprise Extender in its IP and SNA parts. Without looking up specific numbers, I can support this statement by mentioning the date when I assisted with classes where Enterprise Extender was taught with hands-on exercises: 1999. Part of a document I wrote in 1998 described the details of how Enterprise Extender could be implemented. 3. You do not actually need an OSA feature but it is true that often an OSA feature is used in order to support the IP interface over which the Enterprise Extender IP traffic happens to be routed outbound or arrives inbound. It is also often the case that this particular OSA feature is the Gigabit Ethernet feature. The customer where I first implemented Enterprise Extender did indeed provide me with a Gigabit Ethernet OSA for testing rather than letting me use the existing 3172s which would have been equally suitable.
