Well, I'd prefer a cleaner syntax then Unix regexen, more like ICON,

Code, although structured data would be nice as well.

You could add strong[2] typing to REXX very easily, although it might
be better to start from OREXX. However, I don't see why you would need
strong typing in order to get structured data.

[1] An addon called XPARSE supplies that.

[2] I assume that you mean compiler enforced strong typing rather than
    runtime type checking.
