We set TAPEBLKSZLIM=32760 in SYS1.PARMLIB(DEVSUPP00) as the default and either use a DATACLAS definition or JCL to override it. Not everything we have is large block enabled, and we do not want to risk jobs abending just because we changed the default to 256K.
