Performance tuning is not accomplished by adopting a set of defaults. Moreover, the use of a single set of defaults for a class of applications as amorphous as "non-CICS COBOL" is a mug's game.

Tuning storage usage by the LE can be accomplished only by obtaining a storage report for each application and setting the LE's stack and heap sizes for that application using the results that this report yields.

As I have had occasion to note here before, those who seek magical solutions to their problems shouild consult a haruspex instead of querying this list.
