I must be thick headed but how then would I reclaim space in these
PDSEs which are in LINKLIST/LLA?? I'm assuming a typical

LLA REFRESH should release the connections to any old members. If
you refresh on all sharing systems in the sysplex, the space
occupied by those old members should be eligible for reclaim.
However, I believe PDSE member space reclamation occurs only when
the library is open for output. Therefore, I think you might need to
do something overt -- like save/replace a tiny member -- to force
the space to be reclaimed.
I assume that the LLA REFRESH releases LLA's use of the members but
the actual "OK to Reclaim" status will wait until all of the users of
the member (acquired via LLA, JOBLIB/STEPLIB, or a Dedicated DD) are
done with it.
