If you want to send me a small program I'll try it on OS/390
V2R10 with whatever alternate library I am running. Offer good until
10/31/2006 <g>.

I *think* IBM has just gone to putting "z/OS" into every announcement. I
*think* you can install the latest alternate library on OS/390.

I am running V2R10 and I don't recall where I got the library from. I don't
want to try installing anything new as I don't want to crap anything up --
also I am up to my butt right now with other stuff. Mostly I guess that's it
-- I should be able to install the latest in a new library and not touch the
old. I recall it's a simple download and RECEIVE, not SMP/E magic. Do you
recall? Is that right?

It sounds like you are shipping a commercial product written in compiled
Rexx. That's the boat I am also in. Perhaps we should touch base and trade
resources?

Have you seen my recent posts on IDENTIFY and ALIASes? That is all about
Rexx function packages. Do you ship function packages? I'm trying to get
away from having to name the darned thing IRXFLOC or similar and I am
finally there -- but calling IRXINIT yourself is a bitch.

Subject: Re: REXX Compiler "Minimum Library Level" Question(s)

Thanks for your response Charles.

I'm finding some customers are (for whatever reasons) still using OS/390
and cannot install the latest REXX Alternate Library. Er, well I'm
assuming they can't because the latest specifies that it is for z/OS only -
- and I'm assuming that's really true. If that's not so, someone please
let me know! :-)

Getting the latest would be most convenient for me...but outside of being
able to do that, I'm trying to find what commands and functions were
introduced at what levels, so I can know whether or not the REXX execs
will be compatible in a particular environment. Specifically, I'm trying
to tie together the "Minimum Library Level Required" message from the
compiler output with a specific release and maint level of the REXX
Alternate Library.
