There are times when > somebody might want to receive replies to a post off-list, and setting > REPLYTO is the easiest way to accomplish that. > I much agree. In days of yore, the Usenet etiquette was to reply to the poster who courteously summarized replies. As you say this remains useful here; I've occasionally supplied a Reply-to on this list for that purpose.
Don't break LISTSERV merely because some subscribers patronize broken mail services. Why have Reply-to at all if it's always set equal to From? (I know; there's the possibility of Reply-to mailbombing. I'm little moved by that argument.) I subscribe to one other list which never sets Reply-to; I know on that list to override the "To:" when I followup, even as I know to do so to Ted's posts on this list. -- gil -- StorageTek INFORMATION made POWERFUL ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
