I have been aware of the millicode implementation of the long
displacement instructions since they were first retrofitted to
z800/z900, but I don't take them seriously. That retrofit occurred just
so the DB2 V8 developers could code/test with those instructions on
pre-T-Rex hardware. I doubt any serious software developer would
actually want to make heavy use of them knowing how slowly they execute
on z800/z900. Nevertheless, I should have made that point clear...
