ISTR there is also an "Upgrade" option that more nearly resembles the process of applying a PUT or RSU maintenance "tape". If that's how "Upgrade" works, I'd be rather reluctant to try to apply it to a running target system.
Software Upgrade *does not* work that way. It allocates new data sets and loads them.
