Seriously, you might consider providing a URL for "all the doc" that states this support is withdrawn in z/OS V1R7. I'd be interested to read it myself.

What will happen in 1.8 if you attempt to use a one-byte console id ?

The UNKNIDS attribute will be assigned for any non-zero, one-byte console ID still being used in z/OS V1R8.

BTW, z/OS V1R8 is GA and all of the documentation is available. For example:
