Are you asking me to insert the tape? if so the tape is already inserted.
Are you asking me to issue any mount command ? If so I Issued - /M
590,VOL=(SL,R1076A),USE=PUBLIC

Again, I get this message in the log -

*41 IEF235D MOUNT 590 WAITING FOR VOLUMES.TO CANCEL WAIT REPLY 'NO'

Suggest me if I can do anything more.
I have no experience in running Flex on a Thinkpad, so I don't know what unique issues there are with tape drive usage.

I can tell you that the IEF235D message means that some other job already had the tape volume allocated, so this job has to wait for the tape to be released. Did you submit two jobs asking for the same tape?

One more short update is that, My thinkpad has 2 mainframe instances one
z/OS 1.6 and z/Os 1.4 both are connected to the same tape drive. In z/OS 1.6
everthing is perfect when I execute the same JCL and I can able to access
the tape with out any problems.
On a real zSeries system, tapes to be shared between z/OS systems must be marked as Auto-Switchable so that the z/OS systems can communicate and co-ordinate use of the tape drive. The drives are online to all systems that will use them. This would show up in your D U output as AS, so they are not autoswitchable.

If they are not auto-switchable, then the user (you) must vary the tape drive offline on one system and online on the system where it will be used (manual co-ordination). It can only be online to one system at a time.

But the rules may be different under Flex.
