Hi Brian,

We implemented the GRS changes, but they did not seem to change anything.

Subject: Re: JES2 performance problem - z/OS 1.7

Hi,

I ran a few jobs to generate some output JOBs and now I have about 33,000.
When I enter the purge command, it does take a little longer (about 4
seconds) , but nothing close to what you are seeing. I tried it without the
other member of hte MAS active, and it was very fast.

It has to be related to your GRS settings for the checkpoint datasets as JES
just doesn't appear to need a lot of time to do the purge.

One other thing that I noticed was that the CPU% spiked up pretty high, so if
for some reason you have JES constrained, it might cause things to hang up a
bit.

Let me know when you have implemented the GRS changes I told you about in my
email.
