Beginning with z/OS 1.5, DSS supports copying HFS data sets (you had to dump and then restore them before that). You will need to unmount them in order to copy them.
In order to change a data set from being SMS managed to a non-SMS managed data set with DSS, you will need to specify BYPASSACS(dsn), NULLSTORCLAS, and NULLMGMTCLAS. You will also need to specify OUTDDNAME or OUTDYNAM to point to the volume you want the target data set allocated on. -----Original Message----- From: IBM Mainframe Discussion List [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Mueller, David Sent: Monday, December 04, 2006 2:27 PM To: [email protected] Subject: HFS file question related to SMS management I have some DB2-product ("DBS") HFS files that were built on an SMS-managed volume last year when we were still under OS/390-2.10. The DBA who installed the product and built the files is no longer here. We are currently on z/OS-1.6 and our system OMVS HFS files are not SMS managed. Could I use DFDSS to move the DBS files (that are currently SMS-managed) to a non-SMS volume (removing them from SMS management) with no harm to the file access? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
