Following up about "CICS (TXSeries) for Linux".
My understanding is that this is not "free", but...
IBM iPRPQ 7J0468 announced Linux for xSeries availability of TXSeries for
Multiplatforms v6 on 2005-12-20. Contact your IBM software business partner
as an order requires IBM (Hursley) Lab approval.

Instead of getting Z/OS for the PC, it might be more effective to get
DB/2 or even CICS for the PC.
There is a FREE version of DB/2 for Windows and Linux that can be
downloaded from somewhere on IBM's site. CICS development and emulation
on Linux (or <shudder> Windows) would also be interesting, but would
likely require a COBOL compiler.
