But you could use dfsSMB to create a Windows-type share on your mainframe 
and map that to a drive letter on your PC. Requires a bit of set-up in 
order to get security right (and authentication transparent...) but then 
you do not have to download anything (nor upload for that matter). You just 
use the directories on the mapped drive to read the jar files and to write 
the ones you produce from your IDE.

I would expect the licensing being dependent on the product. Shouldn't that 
be mentioned somewhere in the program directory of said product?
