  Thanks for the warning.  Regarding your question about used space for the CDS 
- the MCDS is usually 62% full after the reorg.  We looked at the option of 
creating several MCDSs but we abandoned the idea because of DRP.

Not good, as was pointed out by a poster who knows a lot more about VSAM than I 
do, 0,0 will cause excessive CA splits in the days immediately after 
re-organizing and may cause the file to go over the 4GB limit.

You may want to look at the last post in the thread 'FIXCDS to delete records 
from mcds'.

If you make your freespace so that CA = 50% and CI = 0 you will eliminate the 
CA splits that may be causing you concern.

One other question, what is the used space in the CDS immediately after re-org? 
If it is too high then obviously you have to do what you propose or split the 
MCDS onto multiple volumes.
