Last week, when going all z/OS V1R8 on all LPARs in a SYSPLEX we stubbled over a JES2 problem causing $BR4 abends when IBM added new function to JES2 which showed up when all systems were running at that level. For reference the APAR was OA20072 with now fixing PTF of B20072A. It only showed up if a WLM managed initiator achieved its WLMCOUNT max value in batch processing. We have some of the initiators set to a value of "3" and when all three were running and JOB-4 hit the system, $BR4 abend. One solution is to run one z/OS V1R7 system, run those initiators you want to limit as JES2 intiators, or set the limit to some very high number. We plan on bringing it up on Sunday and hope it works as designed; DST is looming on Sunday too.
