I see references to TapeCopy from one vendor and Copycat from another.
We're considering those, as well as looking for others, for our 3480 to
VTS move. One has an ISPF GUI interface, but not sure about the other,
or other products.
Would any of you care to share your personal experiences? I've combed
the archives and the references I've seen look more like plain text
sales brochures.
Thank you much in advance.

FWIW, I used DITTO, IEBGENER and IEHMOVE (UGH) to stack multiple
3480/3490 volumes onto a single VTS volume. Most of the JCL and control
statements were creating using a RYO CLIST. I also used the TAPECOPY
utility from the CBT site to good advantage. Our "Tape Apes" hated me
for all the mount requests but the transition was accomplished in about
5 weeks, for 20,000 3480/3490 volumes. During the process, I also
"stacked" multiple archival volumes; we had a LOT of carts with only one
small dataset on each one.
