I'd like to share my humble observation:
All mainframe ISV and H/W vendors provide *worse* documentation than IBM
does. Sometimes the quality difference is significant.
Usually documentation website require user authorization or it's simply
unavailable online.
Usually the only format is PDF (I *hate* searching PDFs!) and - what's
much worse - the are no "bookshelves" - prepared sets of related manuals.
BTW: HW in general is worse documented. I mean, for example, HCD
information. Where can I find information about number of logical paths
supported by IBM VTS or how to define 3592 drive to system ?
I'm wondering why. The quality difference is not a question, but it can
be a reason why the documentation is restricted - the less readers the
less complaints.
BTW: Also product-related lists are closed to public even for reading.
Just to hide problems discussed ?
Any comments, opinions, thoughts are welcome.
