Subject: SMPNTS question
I cannot directly access the Internet from our z/OS system. Therefore, I
use the IBM "Download Manager" to get my SMP/E orders downloaded to my
desktop. I then "tar" that subdirectory into a tar file, ftp it (binary)
up to the z/OS system, and use "pax" to unwind (explode, untar) it. I
then do the SMP/E RECEIVE FROM NTS command. Is there any need to keep
the SMPNTS subdirectory around after this is done successfully? I cannot
think of any.
John,
The file you download is already pax'd, so don't waste time creating another
tarball on your PC. You can delete the folder, but for program products, I
keep it like I would keep the tape. I would otherwise hang onto it until
after ACCEPT, but that's just the kind of guy I am.
Regards,
Tom Conley
