*DON'T*
3590 is *not* a universal format. I have customers that have STK (Sun)
silos and are unable to use 3590.

Stand alone 3490(E) drives allow external tapes to be read, but 3590 is
*NOT* an option.
XMIT is fine as far as I'm concerned.
