I don't think IBM is trying to turn the zSeries into a gaming system; rather they are trying to take advantage of the Cell processor that they spent quite a bit of money developing. In the long term we may see them provide a _lot_ of Cell processors in one zSeries box, with the Cell being microcoded to emulate zSeries instruction set, perhaps with some parallel-processing instructions and/or networking added.
