Outside of the migration range (N-3 or N-2) there *IS NO COEXISTENCE or

Separate. *NO SHARING* Any attempt to share JES, CATALOGS, RACF, etc. is
a potential for disaster. If such disaster occurs, you are "on you own".

Minor correction: sharing outside of migration window is always not supported, but sometimes it does work properly.
Sometimes not, of course. Sometimes even data migration is impossible. From the other
hand such migration is not always required, i.e. it could be possible to start with empty
JES spool. Sometimes there are "more low-level, semi-manual" migration methods,
like DB2 unload-load instead of import tablespace, or IODF conversion to text file and
import, or spool offload-reload.
