When I was in Chicago, I spent less than $40 for food. I don't know the prices of apartament rentals, but I believe you can find a hotel for $100 per night (in fact mine was twice more expensive, but it was quite good one). So, (40+100) x 365 = 51 100. I think it is possible to save some money avoiding restaurants and hotels. So, I believe, you won't starve to death and will afford to buy the shirt <g>

Sounds like before the 10% city tax on hotel rooms and restaurant meals. So 17.5% of what you spend in these is now taxes, either Illinois, Cook County or City of Chicago sales taxes, plus the new 10% tax.

No wonder conventions are staying away in droves!!!
