Must admit I had similar thoughts.
We migrated a customer off TMM because it was occupying half the
(mainframe) DASD, and HSM was using inordinate amounts of CPU.
More than the production (i.e. money earning) regions ...

The software solutions (at the time) got short shrift in the ensuing
evaluation - hardware VTS won the day.
If Ron's idea was to get a hearing, it'd have to have similar attributes
to the VTS - i.e. robust hardware running robust software.

Makes a Wintel solution a tough sell ...
