Hi Folks, I am reading the digest, so this post will contain responses to various posts.
Shane, correct, always validate before assuming. Which is why "guaranteed" was quoted. :-) Tom, yep, my error, NUM OFF not UNNUM. Russell, I don't believe that I said don't use IEBUPDTE, just that there are a set of rules that require compliance. But is interesting that except for 1 CICS usermod, the only other usermods using ++MACUPD or +SRCUPD are for CA-1. And a basic rule is, if the dataset is SMP/E managed, then everything should be SMP/E managed. Where I am now, we have additional rule, all sysres set datasets are SMP/E managed. Gil, you missed a step > As I stated, there's an established procedure for this: > > RESTORE USERMOD > APPLY PTF from vendor ==> modify USERMOD, at a minimum, change PRE() to new PTF. ==> better, verify the changes made by PTF and adjust USERMOD. > APPLY USERMOD again. > In regards to original source numbering, the ISPF scheme is not used. Each line number I have seen is incremented by 1000. Final result usually has each line number ending in '000'. And thats all folks.
