True. And in one of those bizarre "who'da thunkit?" moments, it also turns out that it will cheerfully run SUB=MSTR. So you can do a bunch of stuff without even JES being up - basically anything that does not in and of itself require the services of the JES. Obviously you would have to do some quirky things in your z/OS setup to do that, but I tried it out and it worked.
