The terms 'non-executable' and 'not executable' are ambiguous. The
dichotomy executable|not executable may mean:
o either executable|defective in the sense that attempted execution may
not|may fail,
o or, again, contains executable code|contains only data(tables).
For the second case ONLY and ONLY for program objects having the GOFF
attribute that are stored in PDSEs, i.e., not for traditional load modules
stored in PDSs, see page 231 of the HLASM LR, which describes the use of the
attribute keyword REFERENCE in the XATTR assembler statement.
Briefly here, REFERENCE(CODE) is coded for program objects containing
executable code and REFERENCE(DATA) is coded for program objects that
contain only data/tables.
