I do not know where else to post this question. I posted it to the BMC/Control-M NG but that is not as lively as this... If anyone has a suggestion, please let me know. ------------------- I recently inherited a "system" that uses the BMC KSL to demand in some jobs. The job that calls the BMC KSL runs multiple times a day and hundreds of jobs are demanded in. Not all at once of course, but 10 here, 20 there, 60 somewhere else, that sort of thing.
The call to the BMC KSL routine IOARKSL is made from a Roscoe RPF. This "system" has been running fine, somewhat, for quite some time. In other words, we use Roscoe batch to call some Roscoe RPF's that call Control-M to demand in some jobs. Why it was done this way, I have no idea. It's what I was given to be responsible for. Now, our problem is sometimes the call from the Roscoe RPF to the Control-M IOARKSL does not get returned. By that I mean the call is made from Roscoe and the calling RPF just sits there and waits, and waits and... You get the idea. Except in one instance, which happened for the first time this morning, I know that the job that Control-M was called to submit, was in fact submitted and processed. However, Control-M never returned to Roscoe. One of my compatriots called/emailed BMC about the "problem" and he was told that they, BMC, do not recommend using KSL to do what we are doing. Unfortunately, for now, we have no alternative. This "process" is too deeply imbedded in the day-to-day processing. There are not enough Tums to quell the acid indigestion that is currently being felt by everyone in the group. Does ANYONE have a clue what may be going on in the background? Has anyone else experienced this problem? Anyone have a suggestion about how to debug the problem? Speaking of debugging... The DAKSLREP and DAKSLOUT DD names are allocated and they provide no clue. I was able to insert a TRACE command into the DAKSLPRM file and even that did not provide any clues. It looked like the to-be- submitted-job was processed correctly and the KSL ran to completion, but the return to Roscoe did not happen. Help... :( Thanks in advance...
