And, the individual application (or software) must also support the interface, for example consider SAS. Per their SAS.COM support information, specific maintenance on top of SAS 9.1.3 SP4 is required for disk-allocated SAS data libraries, but it's not clearly stated about a SAS PROC COPY (tape backup) of the disk library is also supported. I haven't had the opportunity to test this scenario, unfortunately, but likely will need to in the next 3 months or sooner.
