Agreed. I inherited and replaced a messy set of JCL/sorts/handgrubbing w/a simple pair of cobol programs. The input tx file is update in place. It is loaded by a sort. Each tx has an effective date. Programs run once a day. When date of exec is reached, tx is executed and date of exec is shown in record.
