It was in the RQE (Request Queue Element), not to be confused with the RQE (Reply Queue Element). Probably why the CommTask group renamed it ORE (Operator Reply element).

As to SEs, whenever we had a capable one, he or she got promoted into management. Don't know how many of them confirmed the Peter principle; OTOH, one of our operators wound up doing quite well in IBM management - met him at SHARE a couple of decades later.
