The advice I've heeded for years is NOT to perform STORE STATUS for standalone dump because MVS itself sets a flag that requests STORE STATUS on the next IPL in the same LPAR. So manual action is not only unnecessary, but you might inadvertently get status stored from SAD itself rather than from the running OS. That would be appropriate only if you're trying to debug standalone dump code.

Have any of you ever heard that a Store-Status is NOT needed for dump
taking? Does anyone have a stand-alone dump procedure that they would be
willing to share?
TIA,
George Rodriguez
