People are all over the map, aren't they...

JES2 without question came first, in that the first GA release of MVS (aka
OS/VS2 Release 2) in 1974 came with JES2, and was not initially available
with JES3. JES3 became available later (I believe later that same year) as
an update.

This of course says nothing about when the development on the two products
was done, or about their respective histories and genealogies.
