Another possibility is ACF2 if this is an ACF2 shop. But I assume if it was, Radoslaw would be familiar with this type of problem (protection). FYI... taking additional extents with SYSEXEC would NOT cause this problem. But I also assume you logged off and on to TSO before posting.
