The difference between what you get with DB2 V7 and SMF 101 vs DB2 V8 and PROJECTCPU might be interesting...
I believe the former would be from measuring the appropriate CPU for DDF and ESTIMATING from there - and might be detailed enough to tell you which applications. (I've not seen the output so I don't really know the level of detail.) The latter is the "if you deployed a zIIP this is what you stand to eat into" MEASUREMENT. Not "what you get" as a shortage of zIIP capacity when deployed at very least could cause PROJECTCPU to overestimate... PROJECTCPU didn't do a lousy job you just didn't ante up enough zIIP capacity. Apparently - at Expo last week - there had been some bemusement that PROJECTCPU could only project based on EXISTING supported workloads. Well duh! Throw 100 MSU of fresh SAP R/3 onto the machine and PROJECTCPU ain't gonna project THAT. :-) Cheers, Martin Martin Packer Performance Consultant IBM United Kingdom Ltd +44-20-8832-5167 +44-7802-245-584 [EMAIL PROTECTED] Unless stated otherwise above: IBM United Kingdom Limited - Registered in England and Wales with number 741598.
