I just submitted a query and had a thought to the answer. What I should have mentioned that I am running a sysplex and the sysres I cloned belong to a different z/OS image than that which takes the dumps. This image was not IPLed, nor was the HSM recycled so although I was careful to offline the 4 old sysres packs on all images in the sysplex I should have recycled HSM on the image that runs the HSM autodump! And for safety on all images. I run a HSMplex.
