Gee. I haven't heard this in a while: "My (fill in the blank) doesn't
work, so your mainframe must be broken."

I would not agree that the HMC need be modified. I would suggest that
your network folks do some reading on 'path discovery' and 'black hole
routers'.

There is an added bonus: such a diagnosis points to a misconfigured
router or firewall somewhere that is causing a lot of fragmentation or
otherwise poor network performance.

Subject: Remote HMC Access setup

We are attempting (for the first time) to configure our HMC for remote
access
and we are hitting connectivity issues. We have identified that the MTU
size
being transmitted needs to be reduced but cannot find where we can do
this
nor under which user.
Has anybody had a simular problem or aware of how to modify the MTU
value?
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards, Paul
