I can think of at least three different ways to interpret the question.

  1. For what interval must Syslog be available as SPOOL data sets
    available for searching by, e.g., SDSF?

 2. For what interval must Syslog be available as DASD data sets?

 3. For what interval must Syslog be available as offline data sets?

I would expect the first two to depend solely on local policy, while the
third might have legal requirements.
