You are correct about the speed, if you were to use IDCAMS.  However, T-REX
is exponentially faster and we have a NOMERGECAT option, should you wish to
leave the entries in the SOURCE catalog.

Yes... but since you have to do each entry individually, I think a DEFINE
NVSAM
would be quicker... and leave the entires in catalog B in tact.
