I don't recall IBM having a group number higher than 80, after that it was IMLC. Some vendors had their own 'group' numbers matching IBM for 80 and below and made their own for the high end. They should certainly be able to reference a document stating what box is what group and I have heard that it is wise to put wording in the contract that you will use xxx's ratings (if not IBM then a 3rd party reference not associated with the vendor). Better yet why not use IBM's documented software MSU numbers?
-----Original Message----- Greg Shirey Listers, I have a vendor (who shall remain nameless) telling me that for software billing purposes our z890 is in Group 110. Well, I can't find any resource on the web that refers to anything higher than Group 80 -- when I asked the vendor for their documentation on mainframes and grouping categories, the answer was that they didn't have one. Hmmm. I searched the archives, and there was some discussion on the issue of groups many years ago, but I didn't find anything recently, so I thought it might be all right to bring up the issue again. So, can anyone point me to reliable documentation on what machines fall into what Groups that includes references to Group 110 and Group 120? TIA, Greg Shirey Manager of Technical Services Ben E.
