This is my $0.01...

If I get an engineer out on a call for a Cartridge drive, I expect the
following:

1. Well dressed, Easy to communicate my problem to.
2. Competent in the use of all the procedures / manuals that has to do
with the problem I am having.
3. Able to get the job done in a reasonable space, with the right set of
tools...

When I get an IT Architect in to come and make a proposal for a weakness
/ opportunity I have, I expect mostly that he would have looked at the
documentation I have provided, that he would have come up with at least
possible sets/combinations that do not only cover IBM SW / HW(just
because even though I am an IBM fan, their software might not
necessarily be spot-on for the opportunity at hand) for the selection of
Software / Hardware to fill the gap.

When I get a guy in to install a piece of software, I would expect him
to leave behind enough knowledge about what he did and the road forward
with the piece of software that was installed, that the people already
supporting the environment(SW / OPS / APPS) can continue without the
inconvenience of outages...

Subject: Z Education Needs

zFolks,
What are specific concerns in the field for IBM mainframe
education or knowledge requirements:

        1. When a IBM z/OS (zLinux) or mainframe Sales Rep., IT
Architect,
FTSS (field technical support) or ITS (IT Specialist) comes to your site

to: market,
explain integration, design systems, install or configure products
(inclusive of mainframe hardware) what do you look for in their skills?
        2. Do you rate them (internally) on how well they know the
platform / product characteristics?
        3. Do you ask then to differentiate the product (or OS) from
what
its Distributed functionality provides or offers?
        4. What are other issues not mention above?

thank you.

John
