SET NOMAIL is proper (I do it), but in case I forget there is also an
"exception" tab in the out of office agent settings.  I have the various 
listservs set up in my "do not automatically reply to mail from these
 people or groups" and also I have "listserv" and "Listserv" (not sure
if case matters) specified in "do not automatically reply if the subject 
contains these phrases".
