Hi,
Are you using the SHIP function with CA-ENDEVOR? We are interested to
talk to other companies that have implemented the SHIP function.
Consideration to split an existing Sysplex has raised the requirement to
move Endevor packages from one Sysplex to another. We think the SHIP
function meets the needs and have been talking to CA after reviewing the
documentation.
We have raised the requirement for Endevor to natively support SHIP with
only CA technology included in Endevor or CA-Common Services but today
it does not. You need to purchase a data mover from a list of
compatible products. This is discussed in the Packages Guide manual.
One of these data transmission packages must be available:
- XCOM (CA)
- Bulk Data Transfer (IBM), Version 2, or via NJE/NJI
- NetView File Transfer Program (IBM)
- CONNECT:Direct
Netview FTP and BDT seem to be lowest cost options on the list of
products that can be used to implement this but we have not found anyone
using this yet. XCOM and CONNECT:Direct both seem to be overkill for
just moving updated objects from one Sysplex to another.
Our Endevor administrator and I would love to talk to you. I will share
what we ultimately do to solve this problem with the list but it may
take a while as we are in the research and requirements phase of
splitting these systems.
We will have CA-Endevor r12 installed in production this week. The
folks here who support the application development life cycle using
Endevor had nice things to say about that upgrade so far.
Best Regards,
